AI Story Video Generator: From Story to Narrated Video

This AI story video generator films your story in one of two ways. Turn illustrated pages into a narrated read-along, or let the AI storyboard, cast and animate a short film scene by scene, with subtitles.

How Story-to-Video Works

Every story video on AI Story Kit starts from words, and the AI story video generator gives you two very different ways to film them. One is gentle, affordable and made for reading along. The other is real animation, with characters who move and talk. Pick the one that matches what you want viewers to feel.

Storybook video: your illustrated pages, read aloud

If you've already made a picture book, this is the quickest route to the screen. The generator takes the illustration for each page, drifts the camera across it with a slow pan or zoom, and plays a narrator reading that page's words. Subtitles run along the bottom, and the picture changes when the narration reaches the next page. In this mode it works like a simple story to video converter: nothing new gets drawn, so it costs 20 credits per minute of finished video. Free accounts can make one with their daily credits, and those videos carry a watermark.

Animated story video: a short film, scene by scene

This mode turns AI Story Kit into a full animated story maker. It builds moving footage from nothing, in four stages:

  1. Script. The AI rewrites your story as a storyboard: the scenes, what happens in each one, and the lines the characters speak or the narrator reads.
  2. Characters. It draws a reference sheet for every character plus a picture of the main setting, so faces, clothes and places stay recognizable from shot to shot.
  3. Parts. The film is rendered in 15-second parts, each guided by the storyboard and those reference sheets.
  4. Final cut. The parts are joined into one video, and subtitles are added on top.

You decide the frame (widescreen 16:9 or vertical 9:16), the length (30 or 60 seconds) and the resolution (480p, 720p or 1080p). Animated films are available on paid plans and credit packs. If a single part fails, the credits for that part alone come back to you, and the parts that rendered are kept.

Start From an Idea, a Story, or a Script

You don't need a polished manuscript to make a video. Bring whatever you have, and the story video maker fills in what's missing.

An idea

Type one line, such as "a shy lighthouse keeper adopts a lost seal pup", and the AI writes the story and the storyboard together. If you'd like to read and tweak the text before anything is filmed, draft it first with our AI story generator, then bring it back here.

A story you've already written

Paste a finished story and the AI treats it as source material. It picks the key moments, splits them into scenes, and keeps your characters' names and the order of events. A 60-second film can't hold every paragraph, so long stories are condensed to their strongest beats. Story to video AI works best when the plot has a clear turn the camera can land on.

For a storybook video, start one step earlier: make an illustrated book in the storybook generator, where each page gets a picture and the characters keep the same look throughout.

A script

Script to video AI is the shortest path when you already know what everyone says. Paste a script with scene headings and dialogue, and the generator keeps your lines as written and only decides how to break them into 15-second parts. Screenwriters use it to preview a pilot scene, and creators use it to put pictures to a voiceover they've already tested.

Narration and Subtitles

Sound carries half of any story video, so both modes treat it with care.

  • Storybook videos are always narrated. A read-aloud voice takes each page at a calm pace, and the picture stays on screen until that page's text is finished, so no sentence gets cut off.
  • Animated videos can be told two ways. With dialogue, the characters speak their own lines, which suits drama and comedy. With narration, one voice tells the tale over the footage, which suits fables, true stories and confessions.
  • Subtitles come with both modes. They follow the voice line by line, which helps people watching on a muted phone and helps young readers connect spoken words with written ones.

A storybook video's length is set by its narration, so its price is easy to predict. A 10-page book of around 400 words runs about three minutes, which comes to roughly 60 credits.

Story Video Ideas

Not sure what to film? These four formats suit the tool well, and each one leans toward one of the two modes.

Bedtime stories for kids

A storybook video is the soft option for little ones: warm illustrations, an unhurried camera and a calm voice. Make a book about your child's favorite animal and play it as a read-along before lights out. For something livelier, use the animated mode as a cartoon story maker and film a 60-second tale about a dragon who is scared of the dark.

Reddit-style stories

First-person confessions, workplace payback and "was I wrong?" posts are a fixture of short-video feeds. Write or paste the story, choose vertical 9:16 with narration, and you get what people look for in a reddit story video generator, except the screen shows the actual scenes rather than unrelated background footage. Only post stories you wrote yourself or have permission to use.

Short drama

Mini dramas run on cliffhangers: a hidden letter, an unexpected return, a door slammed in someone's face. Use dialogue mode so the cast argues in their own voices, and end every 30-second episode on a reveal. Describe each character the same way every time to help them stay recognizable from one episode to the next.

Fables, history and explainers

A paragraph about why the tortoise beat the hare, or how the first lighthouse was lit, becomes a short animated lesson. It is AI text to animation that a teacher can play at the start of class, and a 480p draft is cheap enough to try a few versions.

What a Story Video Costs

Story videos are paid for with credits, the same ones used for stories and illustrations. Before a video starts, the generator shows how many credits it will use and how many you have.

A Starter plan's 1,000 monthly credits cover two 30-second 480p films with some left over, and the smallest credit pack, 480 credits, is sized to fit one. Videos made on a paid plan have no watermark. Story video credit costs for every plan are listed side by side.

Story Video Questions

How to make AI story videos?

Choose a mode first. For a storybook video, open a book you've illustrated and turn it into a video; the narration, camera moves and subtitles are added for you. For an animated video, type an idea or paste a story or script, then set the frame, length and resolution and confirm the credits. The AI writes the storyboard, draws the characters, renders each part and joins the final cut.

Is the AI story video generator free?

Partly. Storybook videos can be made on a free account with your daily credits, and they come with a watermark. Animated story videos need a paid plan or a credit pack, because every second of animation costs real money to render. Writing the story itself stays free each day, up to your daily story allowance.

Can I make an AI story video for kids?

Yes, and the storybook mode was built with children in mind. Create a picture book starring your child's favorite toy, then film it as a narrated read-along with subtitles they can follow along with. A content filter blocks unsuitable material, and since you write or approve the story, you decide exactly what your child sees.

Which resolution should I choose?

Use 480p for drafts and phone viewing, 720p for most social posts, and 1080p for big screens. The footage for a 30-second film costs about 360 credits at 480p, 720 at 720p and 1,410 at 1080p. A good habit is to test a story at 480p, then render the version you love at a higher resolution.

What happens if part of my video fails?

Animated films are rendered in 15-second parts. If one part fails, the credits for that part are returned to your balance automatically, so you only pay for footage that actually rendered. When a storybook video fails, all of its credits come back.

Can I make vertical videos for TikTok, Reels and Shorts?

Yes. Animated story videos come in vertical 9:16 for short-video apps or widescreen 16:9 for YouTube and presentations. Pick the frame before you start, because the characters and scenes are composed to fit it.

How long are my videos kept?

On a paid plan, finished videos stay in your library for 180 days. Free accounts keep their work for 7 days, so download anything you want to hold on to.
